Royaume~
I want it to be over! I want it to be over! I want it to be over! I want it to be over! I want it to be over! I want it to be over! I want it to be over! I want it to be over! I want it to be over! I want it to be over! I want it to be over! I want it to be over! I want it to be over! I want it to be over! I want it to be over! I want it to be over! I want it to be over!

Hopefully, next weekend is the big weekend. *crosses fingers* Everything should go well, I think we covered everything. Don't see why it would be bad. Maybe because of the weather but it's raining so much right now, I don't see how there would be any rain left for next weekend.

Meanwhile, I'm stressed, have little time, little patience and little sleep or brain rest. I hope to be back on Tabulas more regularly soon. *sigh* I miss reading out on everyone's blog and seeing how people are doing. I miss ya, people!

What Would Give~

... for a good, long, skillful massage!

*sigh*
The Game Is On~

No turning back... Wish us luck and see you all in about... 4 days.
Royaume - Feedback~
So, here we go! The weekend of pure hell has ended... three days ago. Arh! Royaume... OVER!

Friday 10/7: I'm starting to prepare all my things, trying not to forget too many thing. Clothes, food, light, phone, camera, duct tape, markers, etc. People were calling me, I was calling people... Crazy morning!
Early afternoon, we're heading to the liquor store to get the bottles of [censured], indispensable ingredient for the mystery Grume drink we invented under the Domes. Then we have to go back home to pick up Danny Boy (who could not be ready earlier like the rest of us).
Finally, we're leaving Geneva for Romont.
As soon as we're there, many, many things to do, organize, set, you name it. Our first sponsor arrives and we're helping them out to set their stand. Then other people arrive that we have to pick up at the train station. Anyway... busy evening.
The weather is great but as soon as the sun sets, the temperature drops. We have condensation inside the tents... we have to be careful not to touch the sides of the tent.

Saturday 10/8: The phone rings at 4:20 am. A group of Frenchies arrives and they cannot find the right last turn. After giving the proper indication, we try to fall back asleep, my friend Pearl and myself... It's freaking cold and we have to cuddle under a blanket to prevent our noses from freezing.
The alarm rings at 7:00 am. We're trying to get dressed without touching the wetness all around. Too bad... Our clothes are half wet and entirely cold. Jeez!
We're heading to the fire and try to have some breakfast before getting the rest of the logistic part ready. Running all around, greeting the early people, helping them to settle and all... Pearl and myself are at the "front desk" - if we can cal it that way - giving away their colours and food bracelet pass. Good thing the weather is awesome.
After a quick meal, a briefing on the beginning of the game, here we are... A big bunch of armed guys ready to kick some a$$. And you look at this and think "Wow! All these people because of us...". It's just... like a dream. Or a nightmare.
The President Hicks makes his speech and then the leader of one group (The Emperor) and the leader of the second group (Jossuah)... And off they go! And as I'm playing the journalist with many, many info and a lot of "keys" to sell, I'm walking, walking, walking...
End of the day, end of the game, the sun sets and the party begins after our President's debriefing.
The guys are getting a raclette (the real deal) while the organization team (us) are constantly running around and getting things set up properly. Actually, I can't remember what we did exactly (tombola, radio SE125 gathering...) but I know I could finally rest with my raclette pretty late. I finally managed to spend some time with some of our most famous players. I didn't know at that point that Pearl had taken over the raclette distribution with Hicks. Sorry guys for letting you down.
After a few glasses of Grume and a few other thing sorted out, Pearl and myself are exhausted. We're heading to our (wet) tent. The temperature dropped again and we're freezing in our sleeping bags. But we are more prepared and with an extra layer of clothing and a much more efficient mattress, we manage to sleep.

Sunday 10/9: Wake up at 5:45 am and the bell rings on the camp at 6:00 am. Everybody wakes up and head to the breakfast tables. We're all freezing but the organization team is already running everywhere. The game is delayed (1 hour) because we decided to reduce the game area and we had to move some things around.
After yet another speech from our President, the second round of the game begins. We're still lacking security guys on the battlefield but we manage somehow.
At noon, the game ends and the lunch is distributed. Two hours later, debriefing and... end of the weekend! Well... not really... Cleaning and all lasted until late in the evening. My bro, Danny Boy and I were officially the last one to leave the area.

Woohoo! We did it!

Few days later, I can honestly say it was a success. People were really impressed by our organization, our logistic, our availability as individuals... We received an overall A+ on the logistic part. The scenario however is our weak point. Too rigid, not RP oriented enough... Some people were disappointed. But even these people are planning to come back if we go for a Royaume 2006 or 2007. I'm so relieved! We are yet to have our feedback meeting but I'm really positive about the overall rating. Even one of our sponsors who decided at the last minute not to set up a stand (not confident enough, I can understand - after all, it was our first OP) are willing to work with us again next time...

I was 90% sure I wouldn't sign up for another round of Royaume but after such a weekend... You just forget about the 8 months of work, sweat and [censured] to only remember the good things. I'm sure if you ask me in about 1 or 2 weeks... I'll sign up again with a stupid smile on my face. It was fucking worth it!
Hmm! Keyboard~
My keyboard-to-be!

Thank you X for pointing this cutie out to me... My wallet will hate you for the rest of its life.

Arrh! Cute, hu?

China In The News~
China seems to be everywhere on television these days on my part of the globe. So far, I've seen a few TV shows about China like:

1. Should we be scared of China and its economic boom? Cheap labour, competition... They're ruining European business. And what about human rights?
[That was basically the main subject of the show. Add a TV host and two Chinese guests - Mrs. Lee and Mr. Lee (not related) and you got a debate. Poor, really. I got board and changed channel.]

2. China is short of women. The normal ratio is 103 female for 100 male, in China, it's 117 males for 100 females. Or so it seems. Poor country guys are doomed to singleness... except if they go work in town for a few months/years and save money. Do they buy wives? There was the story of this young man (he was damn hot, really!) who went to town but couldn't stand it and went back home a couple months later. In the meantime, his parents had left for Tibet to find jobs... Sad. There was also the story of this young country girl who left to find a job in town (or so she thought) but once there, she was taken to a country guy who "bought" her and married against her will. She has been rescued by a private detective and brought back to her family... after 6 months of raping and two suicide attempts.
[I wasn't surprised a bit... I remember having thoughts about China and India future regarding lack of women. China being allowed only one child (obviously, you go for a boy) and India having such an antipathy for girls who cost a lot of money to marry. Sad, really.]

3. Pandas are doomed. Whatever we do, we will not be able to save them. Period.
[OK, that was the sad but cute story. Nothing political here... ]

4. China is offering new brands of really cheap cars and are coming into Europe's markets. But what about security? It appears Chinese cars are terrible on crash tests. As a side note, Renault (French cars) strikes back with a € 7'000 car with a very attractive line and cool options.
[You can wonder why it hasn't come out earlier and why we have been paying our cars so much money... Jeez!]

I cannot recall of any other China related matters right now... Maybe textile embargo or chicken disease thing... Whatever. You name it. China is the hot topic right now. Weird.

Well, special hello to all Chinese people/descendants around here.
Back From Vacation~
Back to work on Monday, sick on Tuesday. No, I'm not doing it on purpose, I swear!

OK, I'm fine now.

I'm lazy. My site is still down and I don't really care to redo it and upload all the pictures. *sigh* And the pictures of the Royaume game are still on my memory stick.

Eeek!
Moving~
Next week is the big fat moving day at work. I feel like we're going to play musical chairs. I'm scheduled to move on Tuesday at 9:30 am. I will be the first one of my team to move on our new desks.

I'm not certain I'm really happy with it. We'll see. Depends if my neighbourg-to-be will behave and start to understand computers on her own. Hmm...
I Got It~
I have my week vacation for Christmas. It's always a big deal to get vacations in that period because everybody wants it. I asked for it first so... I got it. Yay! My manager made me wait for a week before confirming, though... She likes to do that.

Anyway, France, here I come! I'm going with my mom so I hope we will not kill each other before getting there. We are visiting the family on my mom's side, the French part of the family. Grand-parents, uncles, aunts, cousins and their offspring. It should be fun. I only get to see them once a year. I'm not sure my cousin from South France will be there, though.

My grand-parents are talking about checking in a medically assisted home. Not a retirement home, more independent but under nurse care and such. My grandma has been loosing her mind/memory for the past five years and it's not going to get better. She still knows who we are, who she is... but she will ask you the same question over and over again. She will remember I'm still single but she will forget why I'm here. My grandpa has been taking care of her as much as he could but it's getting beyond his possibilities now. I think he's getting tired and as I said, things won't get any better. So it's sad to think about it but it might be their last Christmas in their house. *sigh*

I'm looking forward to see my cousins as well. It's too bad we live all so far away from each other and don't get to know each other better. My older cousin is 40ish so we never got to spend time together. Not like I spent time with my cousin Flo during vacations who is just a few year older than me.

And I will get to see my friends! I did my studies in La Rochelle and I still have a fair bunch of friends in the area. Among them, one of my best friends. I don't know if they all gonna have time to see me but it's worth trying. Busy schedule!
Been Away~
I've been far from Tabulas these past weeks. I miss it. I just don't have much to talk about. I'm in a stage where all my energy is devoted to something I cannot even talk about (nah, I'm not a secret agent). I've been loosing my interest for the news of the world, what happens around me and I feel whatever I have to talk about is not interesting... Why do I care if what I say is boring? I just don't want to bore myself to death.

I need excitement! Either it's not coming or I cannot recognize excitement when it strikes. I used to have big plans (being independent, buying a car, going to Japan...) but now they are all fulfilled and I have no new ones...

What shall be my next big adventure?
Fur Coats~
Ten years ago, models were posing for anti-fur campaign. Few years ago, the very same models were back to wearing fur. The save the wild animals idea was forgotten. What do you expect from models anyway...

I was watching this French TV show today (30 millions d'amis) and one of their documentary was about the possible origin of your fur items. They warned us the following could shock sensible people and the first thing I thought of was foxes or wolves trapped with these old clapping things... All I saw was cats and dogs crowded in little piled up cages. Yes, they are using cat and dog's skin for the European fur market.

Basically, what you think is rabbit fur can very well be cat fur. Your coat's fur collar can very well be dog fur. Ever looked for the fur origin on you fur decorated cloths?
